As with everything on Smartphones and tablets these days, they pack a lot of functionality and features into a little space.  Then they try to make it as easy to use as possible.  To their credit, once you get use to a device, it is easy to use.

For example, on the iPad, next to the volume controls there is a slide switch.  That switch has two functions.  It can either be used to “Mute” to silence the iPad or as a screen rotation lock, to prevent the screen from rotating when you rotate the device.

Of course, you still need a way to accomplish the other functionality.    I will go into that more in a future post.

For now, I just want to show you a quick way to mute (aka: silence) your iPad speakers quickly, that will always work.

Just press and hold the Volume Down button for approximately 2 seconds.  The volume will jump to silence immediately.
